Cost of getting to Goa

For most travellers, flights are the single biggest line item. Return domestic fares from a metro run roughly ₹6,000–18,000, cheapest booked weeks ahead and outside the December peak. The Konkan Railway is far cheaper — around ₹500–2,500 each way depending on class — and an overnight Volvo bus from Mumbai, Pune or Bengaluru costs about ₹1,200–2,500 each way. Accommodation costs

Stays span the full range: hostel dorms ₹500–1,200 a night, guesthouses and budget rooms ₹1,200–2,500, comfortable 3-star and boutique stays ₹3,000–6,000, and resorts ₹8,000–25,000+. Food & drink costs

Getting around is affordable if you avoid over-relying on taxis. A rented scooter is ₹300–500 a day (plus fuel) and the local favourite; a car-with-driver is ₹2,000–3,500 a day split between travellers. Peak December pushes these to the top of each range or beyond; the monsoon sits at the bottom. It can undercut a Himalayan road trip through Himachal on transport, and it's usually cheaper than the flight-plus-ferry logistics of the Andaman Islands, while landing in similar territory to a Kerala backwaters trip.
